Who am I?

Profession?
I'm not claiming to be an affiliate marketing expert but I am a software developer with 20+ years experience. I guess you could put me more on the opposite end of what you'd expect as your typical marketing type personality.

How Did I Get Started In Affiliate Marketing?
It started when I developed my first site called PDF4U and needed to market it. I tried a marketing company and spent a lot of money to get no results. So, I needed to learn about marketing on the Internet and started researching internet marketing.

Because of my need to learn internet marketing I first encountered a book called The Super Affiliate Handbook. I took a chance and bought it. The Super Affiliate Handbook introduced me to the world of affiliate marketing and has changed my life. The book motivated me and opened my eyes to what is possible to making a living on the internet and working for myself. And I am forever thankful to Rosalind Gardner for that.

After reading The Super Affiliate Handbook I took another chance and bought another book called Google Profits. Google Profits got me started writing small ads on Google selling other people’s stuff. I had instant success and was making about $700 a month. It didn’t last long because of the changes Google made to their advertising rules. In the end it ended up costing me more money to advertise than what I was making in commissions.

Now what?
Being a software developer, and remembering Rosalind Gardner’s words that "content is king" I created Affiliate Marketing Advantage to help others in the same situation I was in. (BTW, I know most of you are not interested, but the coding I did for this site is kind of cool).

What have I learned?
First, I learned that I’m a pretty good software developer and not a very good marketer. I’ve also learned that I’ve got good analytical skills but I suck at sales, I have a difficult time stretching the truth.

Why Affiliate Marketing Advantage?
It seemed logical to provide a site with short direct reviews to save people time, money, and energy in finding the products they needed to make it in affiliate marketing.

If you think about it, this type of site actually works to my strengths which is to analyze the quality of material out there. Remember, I'm not claiming to be the expert, but I am learning a lot about marketing.

I'm just saying I might be better at identifying the good products from the bad than most people, and all I have to do is report it. The rest is up to you.
