Adware and Spyware Software

Adware and Spyware are terms used to describe software that performs some function on your computer without your knowledge or consent and is the number one threat to your computer.

Adware and Spyware collects personal information about you and your computer activity. It slows down your computer and produces unwanted advertising, such as pop-ups. If you surf the Internet there's a good chance your computer is infected with viruses.

NoAdware is constantly updated to identify the latest threats to your privacy. This software scans your PC for different Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and Web Bug traces. These items not only create nuisances in the form of popups, system slowdowns and crashes, but many items actually record personal information about you, such as credit cards, social security numbers, or other sensitive information.

A Free Download and scan is available but a purchase is required to remove the offending spyware.

This is the one I use and it works very well. I've had no problems with it and my system always seem to run better after using it.

XoftSpy Scan

I thought the user interface for XoftSpy Scan was good and easy to use. The scan identified almost as many files as NoAdware, but it also produced a fair number of false positives.

While a good product I believe there are a number of other products I believe do a better job of testing and removing spyware and adware.

PC Health Plan is an award-winning spyware removal tool. The software identifies and removes over 1000 known web-browser hijackers and other spyware. It removes spyware, adware, keyloggers, trogans, spybots, trackware, and adbots.

You get Live Updates to stop new threats and removes computer errors that can cause your PC to crash.

In a nutshell, I was not impressed with this software package.

AdWare Alert

I liked the user interface. It was clean, professional, and easy to use. However, in our testing of what we consider the the top 3 products, AdWare Alert identified the fewest adware and spyware files.

Spyware Remover will scan and remove any files that are infecting your computer with adware or spyware automatically.

To be honest, I have not tried this product. There is nothing there that motivates me into trying it either, but I welcome any feedback on it.
